I recently subscribed to the free Hindustan Times ePaper edition which is an exact image replica of the HT print edition preserving the fonts and layout of the stories, photographs and even the advertisements. Now when I tried to unsubscribe from this email newsletters, it redirected me to this page which says:
You have successfully unsubscribed from this list. Unsubscribing Morning Dispatch will take 3-4 days to complete.I am so confused now. Why would it take 3 days for unsubscribing an email address. Is there a human being sitting in their newsletter department who is manually unsubscribing people. In that case, it would be perfectly reasonable to expect a delay of 3 days as he may be having a huge backlog.
Another interesting point - a paid monthly subscription to the HindustanTimes ePaper is more expensive than subscribing to the online Wall Street Journal edition.
WSJ subsciption charges are $9.99 per month but a monthly subscription to HT ePaper would set you back by $50 - that's more than 5 times the cost of WSJ.
HT may be one of popular English newspapers in North India but does it come anywhere close to WSJ.
